California Elk Hunting

G & J Outdoor Enterprises / Auburn, CA / (530) 885-1492

We have over 20 years experience calling and locating bulls in the rut during both archery and rifle seasons. We hunt all three species of elk: Rocky Mountain elk, Roosevelt elk and Tule elk. Our success rate has been 90% in California and 100% in Nevada. Since 1999, our clients have taken15 B&C bulls. In California, our Rocky Mountain elk hunts take place on the Northeastern hunt. For Roosevelt elk, we hunt the Northwestern, Del Norte, Klamath and Big Lagoon hunts. Our Tule elk hunts take place on Cache Creek, East Park Reservoir and Grizzly Island. These hunts offer an excellent opportunity to harvest a B&C bull. These hunts are draw hunts. For the Northwestern elk hunt we have access to a private ranch. Because the Northwestern hunt is on private property, there are additional trespass and harvest fees; please call for details. The application deadline for California is the end of May. California auction and private landowner elk tags are also available. The rates quoted below for your 5 day California hunt do not include meals and lodging due to variations in the locations. Season dates are August through October.

Our licensed guides are full time employees who are experienced hunters, familiar with the ranch and wildlife habitats.

Cascade Guide Service / Montague, CA / (530) 598-1850

We have several herds of Roosevelt elk living in our area. These elk are harder to pattern than normal elk herds but very enjoyable to hunt. A hunter must stay alert and be aware that at any time we may be right among elk. We hunt during the rut season so it is very exhilarating to be softly cow calling and have a bull answer you, looking to build his own herd of cows. This hunt requires a California "Siskiyou Elk tag". These tags have to be drawn by California residents only. The drawing offers 15 either sex tags or 15 antler less tags. My packer also guides Elk hunts in the Marble Mountain elk zone. You can contact me for more information about that hunt. I myself live within the Siskiyou elk zone and know the area very well. I spend a lot of time scouting these elk before the season, and I have had good success in previous years. Application deadline dates are June 2nd. For more information on drawing procedures contact California Dept. of Fish & Game. I only book 1-2 Elk hunters per season, so I can give your hunt the attention needed. I will be with you for the full 12 days of the hunt. If successful I will skin out and pack out your trophy to the nearest meat locker. The hunter is required to pay all butcher or meat locker expenses. We supply all transportation to hunting area from camp and back to camp. The hunter needs to supply his own food and camping gear, camp trailer or tent, valid California license and tag. Camp will be in the mountains in a designated camping area. 1/3 non-refundable deposit to book your hunt remainder at the start of the hunt.
